Gap Filling of Modals : Modal verbs are auxiliary verbs (also called helping verbs) like can, will, could, shall, must, would, might, and should.
Structure with Modal Verbs : A Modal verb is followed by another verb in the base form (the infinitive without the 'To') and they are not conjugated (we don't add an 'S' in third person). See the following structure: Subject + Modal Verb + Verb (base form of the infinitive)
A) Usage of Modal Can/Could : ability, doubt, astonishment, permission, Polite request
B) Usage of Modal May/Might : Permission, if not prohibition, supposition with doubt , may is used. For Obligation, firm necessity, logical conclusion, probability, must is used.
C) Usage of Modal Should/Shall/Ought to : to give advice. to offer Assistance or Polite Suggestion (When you are quite sure of a positive answer)
